How it works
Each revolution wraps the pallet's perimeter once. The number of revolutions depends on the load height, the film width and how much each pass overlaps the last; 50% overlap is common. Extra wraps at the base lock the load to the pallet, and extra wraps at the top hold the top layer together.
Machine wrappers pre-stretch film before applying it, so each foot off the roll covers two to three feet of pallet. That's why machine film goes much further than hand film. The result is an estimate: actual use depends on tension and how tightly the load is wrapped.

A 48 × 40 in pallet loaded to 60 in with 20 in hand film at 50% overlap uses roughly 150 to 160 feet.
What is pre-stretch on stretch wrap?
The film is stretched before it's applied, typically by 200 to 300% on machines. It uses less film and holds the load more tightly.
