How it works
Box blanks are cut from larger sheets, and material yield has a big effect on price. The calculator tries the blank in both orientations in a simple grid and reports the better layout.
Real layouts can do better: die-cut cartons are often nested or interlocked, and some presses run mixed orientations. Treat this as a quick check. If yield is poor, a small change in box size or a different sheet size can make a large difference; ask your supplier which sheet sizes they run.
Results are estimates based on typical industry values. Confirm final specifications with your supplier or carrier.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate how many pieces fit on a sheet?
Divide the usable sheet length and width by the blank length and width (plus any gap), round down, and multiply. Try both orientations and keep the better one.
What is a good material yield?
Above about 80% is good for rectangular blanks. Die-cut cartons with nesting can do better.
