How it works
To wrap an item, you need to cover its whole surface area once for each layer, plus some overlap so seams don't open. The calculator uses surface area × layers × 1.15.
Two layers is typical for fragile items; very delicate items may need three, or a single layer of large bubbles under a layer of small ones. Wrap in opposite directions for each layer so every side is covered. Remember that bubble wrap adds thickness: two layers of 3/16 in bubble add about 3/4 in to each dimension, so size the box around the wrapped item.
Results are estimates based on typical industry values. Confirm final specifications with your supplier or carrier.

Which side of bubble wrap goes against the item?
Bubbles facing in, toward the product, so they cushion it directly.
