A box's quoted unit price rarely tells the full story. Custom and printed boxes often carry one-time charges for printing plates, cutting dies or setup, and freight from the factory can be significant for bulky packaging.
Spreading those fixed costs across more boxes is why per-unit prices fall steeply with quantity. Compare two quotes at the same landed cost, not just the unit price. Tooling is usually a one-time cost, so reorders are cheaper than the first run.
