How it works
The calculator tries the box in both orientations on the pallet deck and uses the better column-stack pattern, then counts how many layers fit under your height limit. Boxes shouldn't overhang the pallet edge: overhang can cut stacking strength sharply.
Deck coverage under about 85% means wasted space; a small change in box size can often add a whole row. Interlocking patterns (alternating layer orientation) are more stable but a little weaker in compression than column stacking. Check that the stack won't crush the bottom boxes with the box stacking calculator.
Results are estimates based on typical industry values. Confirm final specifications with your supplier or carrier.

How many boxes fit on a 48 × 40 pallet?
It depends on the box. For example, 16 × 12 × 10 inch boxes fit 9 per layer and 5 layers under a 60 inch height limit, so 45 boxes.
What is the standard pallet height limit?
Many warehouses and carriers use about 60 to 72 inches including the pallet. Check your carrier's and customer's limits.
