How it works
Girth is the distance around the package at its thickest part: 2 × width + 2 × height, where length is always the longest side. Carriers use length plus girth to set size limits and surcharges.
Commonly published limits: UPS and FedEx accept up to 108 in long and 165 in length plus girth; packages over 130 in length plus girth count as large packages, and a longest side over 48 in or second side over 30 in usually triggers additional handling. USPS generally allows 108 in, or 130 in for Ground Advantage. Rules change, so treat these as a guide and confirm with your carrier.
