How it works
The regular slotted container (RSC) is the standard shipping box. It's cut from one rectangular blank with four side panels, a glue flap and top and bottom flaps that are each half the box width deep, so the outer flaps meet in the center.
This calculator adds a small allowance for board thickness at each score. Manufacturers use their own allowances by flute and machine, so treat the result as a close estimate and confirm with your box maker. The box size calculator draws the dieline for you.

Frequently asked questions
Why are RSC flaps half the box width?
So the two outer flaps meet exactly in the middle when closed, giving a flat top that seals with one strip of tape.
How wide is the glue flap on a box?
Usually about 1¼ to 1½ inches (30 to 40 mm) on corrugated boxes.
